Massey University ( New Zealand ) is hosting an international conference on statistical methodologies and their applications in conjunction with NZSA (New Zealand Statistical Association) annual conference.
Our conference will be held at Agricultural and Horticultural Lecture Block (or simply Ag/Hort Lecture Block).
Scope
Submissions from academia and industries on all topics of statistical methodologies are welcome. The topics include, but are not limited to:
- Statistical distributions (univaritae or multivariate)
- Statistical quality control
- Reliability and survival analysis
- Designs of experiments
- others
The theme of NZSA conference is quite general. Papers are invited from any area of probability and statistics. Student presentations are especially welcome. One or two sessions will be set aside for Statistics Education on the last day.

Will be decided in September after the 2009 NZSA Conference at Victoria University of Wellington.

Palmerston North City 
Palmerston North has a population of 80,000 located at the southern end of the North Island . It is a central location in New Zealand: two hours drive from Wellington (capital, cultural centre, Te Papapa), 3 hours from Taupo (tourists spot, boating, fishing) or Mt Ruapehu (skiing) and 4 hours from Rotorua (tourists spot, cultural centre, thermal activity); There are regular domestic flights between Palmerston North and other major cities within New Zealand; an hours flight to Auckland and Christchurch.
Accommodation
There are four main hotels in Palmerston North: Kingsgate, Quest, Hotel Coachman and Travelodge hotels. There are many motels on Fitzherbert Ave leading to Massey Campus. Amongst those closest to Massey University are Pavilion. Regency, Kauri Court, Awatea Park. The 12 bus route from City (Square) to Massey runs the length of Fitzherbert Avenue (on Non-Semester timetable) or there are taxis available.

Weather
The day temperature in Palmerston North is usually between 4°C and 12°C during June/July. The night temperature is lower but seldom goes below 0°C. Visitors are advised to bring along warm clothing including a warm jersey and a rain coat.
Travel
Most international flights fly into Auckland or Christchurch . There are several daily flights between Palmerston North and Auckland as well as between Palmerston North and Christchurch. .

Spouses and partners of conference delegates may be interested to visit the Victor Esplanade Gardens, a walk along the Manawatu river bank or a swim at Lido

. Palmerston North is famous for its wind farms. There are several golf courses nearby for relaxing. Horse riding is another possibility.
